Weather system to bring snow to upper midwest
A polar vortex is forecast to bring below-average cold temperatures to much of the country's middle third, as far south as the Texas panhandle. Wind chills could be as low as -10 or lower in the Dakotas. The system is also expected to bring several inches of snow from Idaho to Michigan, with most precipitation centered around the Twin Cities of Minnesota. The Weather Channel, keeping up with a system they started a couple of years ago, has accordingly named this storm "Astro." It will not be referred to as such in official reports. Snow events in November, in the middle of autumn, are somewhat rare, but in this case the conditions and geography are perfect for winter precipitation.
