Severe weather season is starting up

This week has seen the first major severe weather outbreak in the United States, which is still ongoing this evening. It has produced deadly tornadoes in the midwest and southeast, with the hardest-hit states including Kansas, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama and other states around the middle of the country.

Saturday afternoon and evening brought a small round of severe weather to Virginia and North Carolina, which went largely unnoticed despite featuring an EF3-rated tornado. On Sunday, the National Weather Service determined a high risk of severe weather in much of Arkansas. There were multiple destructive tornadoes there, as well as in parts of Oklahoma, Kansas and Missouri. By Monday, the severe weather system was over the southeast and bringing more tornadoes to states like Mississippi, Alabama and Georgia. Today, there has been some tornadic activity in western Florida and again in North Carolina.

After a slow start to the season, this is a very significant severe weather event due to the many tornadoes it has produced and the large area of the country affected.

I'm getting bored with the internet

So I think people on the internet are running out of ideas because I'm seeing the same stuff that has already been remade a bunch of times. It's like people are reduced to copying other people because they don't have any original ideas. I guess there's nothing I can do about it though.

Easter

Today was Easter and we did the usual things to celebrate it. After being at a ski resort in western New York for Easter last year I was back at home this year.

My candy basket had Walgreens jelly beans in it. rofl.
I took this picture of our ham before my mom glazed it so when it was done cooking it looked a lot better than this.

My mom made "cracker candy" with matzo, which we had five boxes of from the grocery store she and I work at.
A couple of days earlier we made sugar cookies in Easter shapes with bright colored sugar crystal sprinkles.
This is a pineapple pound-type cake that was already half-eaten when I took this picture. Also I guess it doesn't look very appetizing but I thought it was except it could have used a bit more pineapple.

So that is my Easter in pictures. I hope everyone else enjoyed Easter today.

The NASCAR season so far

Since NASCAR is off this weekend for Easter, here's a summary of the eight very eventful Sprint Cup races that have been run so far.

Daytona, February 23: The race is red-flagged for more than six hours after 39 of 200 laps due to rain and severe thunderstorms. It restarts under the lights, there are several crashes, and Dale Earnhardt Jr. goes on to score a very popular win.
Phoenix, March 2: Kevin Harvick leads more than 200 laps en route to his first win with Stewart-Haas Racing in just his second race with them. Dale Earnhardt Jr. finishes second but doesn't lead any laps.
Las Vegas, March 9: Dale Jr. leads late in the race but runs out of fuel on the final lap due to not having pitted in a while, and Brad Keselowski ends up winning, with Junior finishing second again.
Bristol, March 16: The race starts late due to rain, and then has a three-hour rain delay after 125 of 500 laps, forcing the rest of the race to be run at night. With three laps to go and Carl Edwards leading, the caution lights are accidentally triggered, and then it starts raining again. This causes the race to end under caution with Edwards winning.
California, March 23: Jimmie Johnson blows a tire while leading with ten laps to go, giving the lead to teammate Jeff Gordon. In the next few laps, Brad Keselowski, Marcos Ambrose and Clint Bowyer also have tire problems, bringing out a caution and setting up a green-white-checkered finish. Landon Cassill chooses not to pit and leads a couple of laps. Kurt Busch gets the jump on the restart, but his brother Kyle Busch ends up winning, with rookie Kyle Larson finishing second.
Martinsville, March 30: Brad Keselowski and Kurt Busch get into each other on pit road, with Keselowski flipping off Busch. Later, Jimmie Johnson leads several laps, but is passed by Busch, who goes on to win, much to Keselowski's frustration.
Texas, April 7: This race was supposed to be held on Sunday, but was postponed to Monday due to rain. The race starts under yellow, and just after it goes green Dale Earnhardt Jr. drifts into the infield and then hits the wall, ending his race. Later, Brad Keselowski dominates, but eventually loses the lead to teammate Joey Logano. With just over one lap to go Kurt Busch blows a tire bringing out a caution. Everyone pits and Jeff Gordon leads on the restart. Just after the white flag Logano gets the lead back and wins.
Darlington, April 12: Joey Logano dominates the first quarter of the race. Several rookies including Alex Bowman, Michael Annett and Cole Whitt hit the wall hard and produce "Darlington Stripes". Kevin Harvick once again leads over 200 laps. With 10 laps to go a caution comes out and Jimmie Johnson gets the lead. A few laps later another caution causes a green-white-checkered finish with Dale Earnhardt Jr. leading at the restart. Kurt Busch then spins causing a second GWC attempt. Harvick ends up winning and becomes the first repeat winner in the series in 2014.

I have never seen a NASCAR season start off this wild. It does provide a lot of excitement but somewhere in here I'd like to see a normal race!

Happier and more productive

Lately I've been happier because of stuff like better weather and doing well in my college class. Also I've been getting out a lot more instead of just staying home and messing around all day. So I haven't been posting anything on the internet lately because I've been doing more productive stuff. But I'm still pretty addicted to the internet so this probably won't last!

Windows XP support ends today

Microsoft has ended support of the operating system Windows XP. This means they will no longer be making things like updates and bug fixes for it.

Windows XP came out in October of 2001 and it was the most used operating system in the world for several years before being passed by Windows 7 a year and a half ago. I have used a lot of computers with Windows XP but now that I have a laptop with Windows 7 I have been using that a lot more now.

There are three newer versions of Windows after XP (Vista, 7 and 8) so people who still have XP will probably start upgrading to one of those versions of Windows. But some people still like XP and will probably continue to use it even though it's 12 and a half years old.

April...

So it's April now and I'll use this post to talk about some various stuff.

It's been raining a lot here lately and we even had sleet on Sunday and there was a bit of snow near me. Also there was flooding in some areas because it rained so much. But it was sunny on Monday and yesterday, but today so far has been cloudy with a bit of rain. And the temperatures are finally starting to get warmer.

I'm still wasting a lot of my time playing iPod games (mostly racing) and randomly browsing the Internet. I need to stop doing that because I have an online college class that I have to do work for every week so I need to spend more time on that!

My car just had more repairs done to it and I just got it back this morning. I think I've learned my lesson to be careful while driving now!

So those are some things that have happened since my last post.
